I was VERY upset/disappointed to find when I opened the first of my 6 vent covers that the company was too CHEAP to add the necessary screws for installation. I couldn't complete my project when I wanted to and had the time to do because of this. Without a second thought, consumers would assume that for over $12 per vent cover that screws would be included. Exactly what ARE 'appropriate screws? Of course I know to get the right size and type but what a dumb way to put that information. I will never order from this company again - unless they were to send me 18
screws - 3 each for the 6 vent covers I purchased. Buyers, beware!
IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called the company and without ANY hassle they agreed to send me the 18 screws! The vents are beautiful, well made and I'm sure I will enjoy them for years to come. This company is out to satisfy the consumer. BRAVO!!

We purchased these as we bought a new house (older home but new to us) and many of the registers were old, covered in paint and dented. So we decided to replace them. This was a nice option because we could buy in bulk. However, when we opened them up to install, we were surprised to learn there are no screws included. So we had to go out to the hardware store to get them. Not a huge deal or expense, but a major annoyance. It would be better for the company to just include the screws and charge the few cents more necessary to cover the cost. Other than that, the product looks like and fit well into our home.

I have an 18" vent at the top of my basement stairs that gets hit by salt all winter, every winter.

I replaced the old one which was about 40 years old. Very heavy duty with this one about 4 years ago.
It was very light weight but I figured that if the powdercoat was good, it would last.

Honestly, I think it is just painted. Nt powdercoated. The whole thing rusted. Inside and out.

When I tried to take the old one out it crumbled. Of course, that makes it easy to remove.

The new one is snapped together so you first need to reach up inside and pop from the top outboard. At that point it is in two pieces and the frame is very easy to screw into place. I just used 1.5" deck screws.

The cover has to be guided in from the bottom first and swung into the top.

It is beautiful once it is done and since it only take about 5 minutes to install, I will likely replace it every 3 years just so I don't have to fight with the rusted out metal.

Smart design. The grills just snap into the frame after you screw that in. Lightweight, good fit and finish. I've seen the reviews calling this cheap and flimsy and so on, but that's not my experience. But a word of caution when installing - best to wear gloves. Some of the metal edges are sharp. I nicked myself. Overall, a very satisfactory inexpensive replacement. Bought 6.

Works & looks ok. The main problem I have is the front cover is not really secure to the base, it's only held on by two detents (friction bumps) on each side so when you lift up on the shutter the whole front grill comes loose & lifts off. I tried adjusting the engagement tabs but the front grill still comes off, I will probably put some painted pan head screws in it to secure properly even though I shouldn't have to!

Nice looking replacement grille for my house built in 1998. The old grilles were beyond cleaning, dented, dirty, etc. The only reason I am down staring this one is because these were about a half inch or so bigger than my previous grilles that fit my 18 inch duct opening. This made it very difficult to insert these replacements into my carved out holes around the house.

I ended up having to sand each vent-hole-sides in every room to get the replacement grille to barely squeeze in. Other than that, A+

This item came in a sealed box and was damaged. I ended up being able to keep the item and use it but only after repairing it by gluing it back together. So while this item was useable, If you buy it, be prepared to repair it before being able to use it for your needs.

The manufacturer doesn't pack these diffusers well enough for amazon's shipping. They arrive with the adjustment lever bent off to one side, and the adjustment flap dislodged from bent hinges. Also the entire thing will be slightly crushed and bent. I tried a few times returning it and having amazon ship another, same result every time.

If you can find this vent in stores and pick out an undamaged one for yourself, I think they're okay. They're no product for amazon though.

Old ones were dirty, dinged up, and had some paint splotches from painting the walls. These were a quicker and easier solution. Depending on how tight your baseboards are you might need to trim them with a utility knife to get them to fit - they are the same as my old ones, maybe a mm wider, but look great once installed.
